HEMP PROTEIN – PERFECT FOR THE KETO DIET!

 According to the Ministry of Hemp  – Hemp protein is perfect for the low-carb Keto diet.
 
Hemp seeds/oil are rich in Gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA) that help create prostaglandins; chemicals that help smooth muscles, control inflammation and body temperature. Foods with GLA support those with blood pressure problems, obesity, heart disease and more. The Keto Diet is all low carbs, so grains like bread and pasta are excluded. Hemp seeds are an easy fix to this problem. One ounce of hemp seeds contains nine grams of protein, twelve grams of fat, and two grams of fiber. The seeds contains all twenty amino acids, and all nine of the essential amino acids our bodies cannot produce on its own.
 
For those on the Keto Diet adding Hemp is a perfect choice, its not just a nutrient dense super-food, its a tasty seed providing great texture and taste to your daily menu.
 
Additionally, hemp milk and hemp cheese can be substituted for regular dairy products.
 
I haven’t found any ready-made hemp cheese products, but I have found a great recipe for making your own hemp cheese:

GARLIC & DILL HEMP CHEESE

1 cup hulled hemp seeds
2 garlic cloves
3 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. unflavored almond, soy or hemp milk
2 tbsp. chopped fresh dill
1/5 tsp. salt

 

COOKING DIRECTIONS

Place hemp seeds in food processor. Blend to a thick paste, occasionally scraping down the bowl. Add garlic and lemon juice and blend. Add milk, dill and salt. Blend to a smooth creamy cheese.
